Aurora

Aurora Aksnes, born June 15th 1996 in Stavanger and is known professionally as Aurora or, sometimes, stylized in the form of AURORA is a Norwegian singer and songwriter. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves, released in May 2015 by Decca Records to great approval of music bloggers and the media. She has recorded several high-profile cover songs, including Half the World Away (by the group Oasis) to accompany John Lewis' Christmas advert and Nature Boy (by Nat King Cole) that have received a lot of praise. Katy Perry's praise for the song Runaway in a blog post added to the musician's appreciation. It was her birthday celebration. Aurora Aksnes first musical memory was finding a keyboard within her loft and being fascinated by the music. Jan Oystein Aksnes and May-Britt Aksnes encouraged her to learn music, not for an income or to pursue hobby but to develop. In order to do so, she began writing music that was her own. She credits renowned composers Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan in her influences, along with an affinity for Bjork's style. After her mom told her that her songs would not only help her gain popularity, but also help everyone else see their value in the world and realize what can be done with their music, she made the decision to perform in public. When she was six she began to learn the piano, and when she was nine, started writing songs. Family members didn't even know about this until she was fourteen. Aurora was not a goal. She claims she loves creating songs. Music is her favorite way to feel anything.
